Bio-based materials are moving from experimental claims to verified sourcing criteria. With most fibers still fossil-derived, buyers press suppliers for renewable-carbon alternatives backed by traceability. Independent certifications, such as DIN-Geprüft Biobased (DIN CERTCO, per EN 16785-1), verify actual bio-based content through radiocarbon testing rather than self-declared claims. Tightening EU rules on environmental claims push brands to document feedstock sources precisely.
